Paul Rumsey

Paul Rumsey was born in Essex, England. He works in charcoal on paper, in tones rather than lines.

His work is in the tradition of Grotesque, from Bruegel and Arcimboldo to Goya, Redon and Kubin.

He calls his work ‘metaphoric realism’, he uses visual metaphors to portray the world. The image are ambiguous, often both comic and disturbing, many of the ideas coming from dreams.
