MARGOT “Sentempa Mundo“
Museum of Contemporary Art Zagreb, Black Box
16 June – 23 August 2026
Curator: Daniela Bilopavlović Bedenik
The solo exhibition Sentempa Mundo / Timeless World by the French artist Margot (b. 1982), one of the leading figures on the contemporary international art brut / outsider art scene, opens on 16 June 2026 at the Black Box Gallery of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb.
The exhibition presents large-scale drawings executed in ink, oil, felt-tip pen, dry pastel, and ballpoint pen, and represents one of the most significant recent bodies of work within contemporary outsider art.
Margot began drawing in 2014, developing an intense and intuitive artistic process grounded in near-automatic drawing. Her works emerge through dense, rhythmic networks of lines that form intricate structures from which hybrid forms gradually surface – part human, part botanical – creating visionary compositions reminiscent of organic, almost cosmic systems.
In a relatively short period of time, Margot has achieved considerable international recognition. She has exhibited at renowned institutions, including Galerie Gugging in Austria, the College of Psychic Studies in London, Andrew Edlin Gallery in New York, and the Montanelli Museum in Prague. Her works are held in the collections of the American Folk Art Museum in New York, the College of Psychic Studies in London, and the Montanelli Museum in Prague. She is also the recipient of the Grand Prix at the international Raw Intuitive Triennial at the Museum of Naïve and Marginal Art in Jagodina.
The exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb marks the first solo presentation in Croatia of this internationally recognised artist, offering insight into her exceptionally evocative and distinctive visionary world while also affirming the Collection of Outsider Art’s ongoing commitment to researching and presenting important figures on the contemporary outsider art scene.
